Most Effective ‘Medicine’ to Slow Aging? Gerontologist Promotes Movement

CHICAGO, April 29 /PRNewswire/ — Ever since Ponce de Leon set out to find the mythical “Fountain of Youth” society has been absorbed with the notion that there is something to consume to stay young. One noted gerontologist, however, is promoting a far different formula for retaining health and vitality at any age.

“Movement is truly one of the best remedies we have available to us, especially as we age,” said Kevin O’Neil, MD, editor of The Optimal Aging Manual and Optimum Life(R) medical director for Brookdale Senior Living. “No other single life change is capable of impacting so many areas of health and wellness as daily activity, especially for seniors.”

As testimony to his beliefs, Dr. O’Neil created Movement is Medicine, a program to promote wellness in seniors. The program encourages individual activity to meet the guidelines of 30 minutes of moderate daily activity established by the American Heart Association and American College of Sports Medicine.

“The goal is to improve the health and wellness of older adults through the development of a tailored physical activity plan,” said Dr. O’Neil, who is now introducing the program at Brookdale communities across the country.

Movement is Medicine was launched as part of the company’s Optimum Life(R) initiative, a lifestyle which holds that balance over six dimensions of wellness — purposeful, intellectual, social, physical, intellectual and spiritual — fosters optimal wellness regardless of one’s physical condition, limitations or age.

“Although everyone cannot be equally healthy at any age we can all be optimally healthy by doing the most with what we have, and it all begins with movement,” said Dr. O’Neil.

For example, Dr. O’Neil cites ballroom dancing as one of the best activities for moving and staving off age-related disease because it requires one to be active, to think intellectually about the next steps, to move in harmony with a partner and to be emotionally engaged, all at the same time. Alternate forms of positive movement for seniors include gardening, yoga, water aerobics and tai chi. In addition, according to Dr. O’Neil, Nintendo(R)’s Wii(TM) also promotes positive movement via an engaging combination of recreation and exercise.

Movement is Medicine is intended to enrich the lives of seniors, according to Dr. O’Neil, and it is particularly applicable in senior living and retirement communities, where group interaction encourages attendance and participation.

“We are educating senior residents that unwanted, age-related changes can indeed be slowed or reversed simply through movement,” said Dr. O’Neil. “While the mythical fountain of youth may never be found, regular physical activity — movement — is the next best thing. That’s the key.”

Redibeets, Beets, Why Add to Diet

This testimony comes from my friend and colleague, Mary Ann.

I have always hated beetroot or beets. I hated the taste, which is like sand, and I hated the way it would ‘bleed’ all over my food and color and flavored everything. A plate of sandy, bloody food! ugh! Even when I started seriously researching health and nutrition 25 or 30 years ago, I still could not myself to bring a piece of beetroot near my mouth. Mind you, recently I have found ‘grilled’ beets are almost nice.

Ten years ago I started drinking Redibeets with BarleyLife and Just Carrots but since I wasn’t anemic and was traveling a lot, I stopped adding the Redibeets about a year or two ago. (I used the Redibeets because they do not taste sandy!) I just recently (August 2009) became aware of the research conducted by Professor Andy Jones, which shows that drinking beet juice daily can increase your stamina by 16%. So I started adding back the Redibeets to the others again last week and by Saturday I went for a 2 ½ hour walk/run, thinking I may be a bit stiff and tired the next day, but was not! Then I went for a 90 min walk the next day and have increased my daily exercise since then because I am feeling like I have the energy and strength to just keep going for hours! (I normally walk 30-40min a day and maybe once or twice a month 1-2 hours) I am getting older and have just come through the menopause! This is an awesome improvement!!

I can honestly say that there is a distinct increase in my stamina and think that I responded so well because I follow a healthy diet, but the subjects in the research were just regular folk with no particular dietary program and they responded pretty quickly also. You can make your own organic beet juice with a juice extractor and beets from your garden or if you need convenience, order Redibeets from Aim along with the powder form BarleyLife, (barley grass juice) and Just Carrots (carrot juice). Quick and easy and just as nutritious as fresh! Otherwise grow your own beets, carrots and barley grass! Cheers – (with a glass of beet, barley and carrot juice!) Mary-Ann

RESEARCH: Below is the research on stamina increase and previous research on beets ability to help the body lower blood pressure dramatically.

Beetroot Health BenefitsAugust 2009 UK: Drinking beetroot juice increases stamina and could help people exercise for up to 16% longer, claims a new study conducted in the UK. A University of Exeter (U-E) led study shows for the first time how nitrate in beetroot juice leads to a reduction in oxygen uptake, therefore making exercise less tiring. Drinking beetroot juice boosts stamina and could help people exercise for up to16% longer, a UK study suggests. A U-E team found nitrate (these are natural healthy nitrites and nitrates, not like sodium nitrite and nitrate in smoked and processed meats so don’t panic) contained in beets leads to a reduction in oxygen uptake – making exercise less tiring.

The Journal of Applied Physiology study suggests the effect is greater than that which can be achieved by regular training!?! Beetroot juice has previously been shown to reduce blood pressure. The researchers believe their findings could help people with cardiovascular, respiratory or metabolic diseases – and endurance athletes. They focused on eight men aged 19-38, who were given 500ml per day of organic beetroot juice for six consecutive days before completing a series of tests, involving cycling on an exercise bike. On another occasion, they were given a placebo of blackcurrant cordial for six consecutive days before completing the same cycling tests.

After drinking beetroot juice the group was able to cycle for an average of 11.25 minutes – 92 seconds longer than when they were given the placebo. This would translate into an approximate 2% reduction in the time taken to cover a set distance. The group that had consumed the beetroot juice also had lower resting blood pressure. The researchers are not yet sure of the exact mechanism that causes the nitrate in the beetroot juice to boost stamina. However, they suspect it could be a result of the nitrate turning into nitric oxide in the body, reducing how much oxygen is burned up by exercise.

Study researcher Professor Andy Jones – an adviser to top UK athlete Paula Radcliffe – said: “We were amazed by the effects of beetroot juice on oxygen uptake because these effects cannot be achieved by any other known means, including training. “I am sure professional and amateur athletes will be interested in the results of this research. “I am also keen to explore the relevance of the findings to those people who suffer from poor fitness and may be able to use dietary supplements to help them go about their daily lives.”

Professor John Brewer, an expert on sports science at the University of Bedfordshire, said: “These findings are potentially exciting for many people involved in sport and, but will almost certainly require further more extensive studies before the exact benefits and mechanisms are understood.

“We must also remember that exercise and training and a sensible diet will always remain as the essential ingredients for a balanced and healthy lifestyle.”

Dr Simon Marshall, of the University of San Diego, has carried out work on exercise and health. He said much more work was needed involving many more subjects to draw firm conclusions. But submits, “Certainly, a diet high in nitrate-rich fruits and vegetables is good for your heart health and this study provides further evidence of this.”

Beetroot juice also aids in reducing your blood pressure. Researchers say that a daily glass of beetroot juice can do wonders for hypertension and many cardiovascular diseases. Beetroot has the power to cleanse your system and increase hemoglobin, along with purifying your blood.

Nutritional facts in Beetroot: Vitamins – Beetroot is a good source of vitamin C and folic acid. It also contains small amounts of vitamins B1, B2, B3, and vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene.

Minerals: Rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and sodium. Also, smaller amounts of iron, zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium.

Amino Acids: While raw beets are mostly water and carbohydrate, they also contain small amounts of all the essential amino acids that make up complete protein Antioxidants: Its carotenoids and flavanoids can help reduce the oxidation of LDL cholesterol which could lead to damaged artery walls and ultimately heart attacks and strokes.

Anti-carcinogenic Color: The deep red color of beetroot comes from betacyanin an anthocyanadin a group of powerful antioxidants which protects against colon cancer, slows down ageing and boosts natural immunity. Silica: The rich stock of silica in it does perfect utilization of calcium in the body and is also required for healthy skin, hair, nails and bones.

Beetroot is a natural source of vitamins and minerals. Beetroot is used traditionally as a blood building food. Beetroot may aid the natural process of elimination and support detoxification processes. Beetroot has liver, spleen, gall bladder and kidney cleansing properties. Beetroot is particularly rich in Vitamin C, calcium, phosphorus and iron. The iron contained in beetroot is organic and non-irritating and will not cause constipation. Beetroot is useful in acidosis due to it being rich in alkaline elements.

Beetroot purifies the blood and has anti-carcinogenic properties. Research shows it boosts the body’s natural defenses in the liver, regenerating immune cells. It also contains silica, vital for healthy skin, fingernails, ligaments, tendons and bones. Drinking 500ml of beetroot juice a day can significantly reduce blood pressure, UK research suggests. February 2009. The key beneficial ingredient appears to be nitrate, which is also found in green, leafy vegetables. (Another reason to add the BarleyLife to the Redibeets or beet juice!)

The researchers found that in healthy volunteers blood pressure was reduced within an hour of drinking the juice! The study, by Barts and the London School of Medicine and the Peninsula Medical School, could suggest a low-cost way to treat hypertension. Previously the protective effects of vegetable-rich diets have been attributed to their antioxidant vitamin content.

While it took less than an hour to note a reduction in blood pressure in the beetroot juice tests, it was more pronounced after three to four hours and a degree of reduction continued to be observed for up to 24 hours, the report published on the online journal Hypertension said.

Saliva breakdown: The researchers showed that nitrate in the juice is converted in saliva, by bacteria on the tongue, into nitrite. This nitrite-containing saliva is swallowed, and in the acidic environment of the stomach is either converted into nitric oxide or re-enters the circulation as nitrite. The peak time of reduction in blood pressure correlated with the appearance and peak levels of nitrite in the circulation. No such drop in blood pressure was recorded in a second group of volunteers, who did not swallow their saliva while drinking beetroot juice, or for three hours afterwards.

More than 25% of the world’s adult population are hypertensive, and it has been estimated that this figure will increase to 29% by 2025. Hypertension causes around 50% of coronary heart disease, and approximately 75% of strokes. In total, cardiovascular disease kills over 110,000 people in England every year.

Researcher Professor Amrita Ahluwalia said: “Our research suggests that drinking beetroot juice, or consuming other nitrate-rich vegetables, might be a simple way to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, and might also be an additional approach that one could take in the modern day battle against rising blood pressure.” Certainly drinking beet juice daily with a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables is a better solution that most meds which cause a variety of side effects from erectile dysfunction to diabetes.

(Side comment: Many, many people for many years now, have reported that drinking barley grass juice, carrot and beet juice, either fresh-made or in powdered, easy-to-mix form, have reduced their blood pressure and many have been able to discontinue their meds. (With their doctor’s approval) One man made absolutely no changes to his diet as he is a food critic and wine connoisseur and has to eat in restaurants almost every night and makes no time for exercise!)

Now we have the science to explain why.

Amazing things, vegetables.. so what you waiting for?! Get out the juicer or call or email me on how to order fresh, convenient-form juice powders or capsules!

Life Extension Daily News - Whole Grains Reduces Heart Disease 30 percent, Diabetes In Women

McClatchy-Tribune Information Services — Unrestricted

08-19-09

A book could easily be written on the topic of how the consumption of whole grains protects us from a myriad of chronic diseases. However, in this post, I will touch upon how whole grains affect the course of the top three diseases of the greatest concern in America and the West; and also on how whole grains can greatly alleviate the difficult symptoms often associated with menopause for many women. Most people have a notion that they should consume some whole grain foods, but fail to realize the pivotal role of regular whole grain consumption is creating long-term health. As this topic is very extensive, I will deliberately stick to just the key points here — points worth remembering on your way to preventing deadly chronic diseases pro-actively:

1. WHOLE GRAINS EQUAL LESS HEART DISEASE: Several studies have helped us to understand and confirm the connection between whole grain consumption and reduced rates of heart disease. Studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (AJCN) in 1999 reported that women in the Nurses’ Health Study who ate the most whole grain foods (an average of 2.5 servings a day), were 30 percent less likely to develop heart disease than women eating the fewest (about 1 serving a week). It is estimated that eating a bowl of breakfast cereal that contains about 5 grams of fiber cuts the chance of heart disease by about one-third. These results are ratified by other high quality epidemiologic studies as well.

2. REGULAR WHOLE GRAIN CONSUMPTION SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES THE RISK OF DEVELOPING TYPE 2 DIABETES: Epidemiologic research unequivocally suggests that whole grain consumption is fundamental to keeping the body’s blood sugar levels in the ideal range. Harvard’s Nurses’ Health Study as well as the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study confirmed that those who ate the most cereal fiber from grains (about 7.5 grams per day — which translates to approximately a bowl of oatmeal and 2 slices of whole grain bread) were 30 percent less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes as compared to those who ate the least grain fiber (less than 2.5 grams per day). Conversely, the consumption of a combination of low cereal fiber and a high sugar load (from white bread, colas, white rice, etc.) more than doubled the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

3. WHOLE GRAINS HELP WARD OFF MANY CANCERS: Meta-analyses (several “pooled” analyses) of many epidemiologic studies suggest clearly that whole-grain consumption reduces the risk of developing several cancers including stomach, colon, mouth, gall-bladder, and ovarian cancer(s). The pathways through which whole grains protect against all these conditions are not fully understood, but research suggests that the many components of whole grains such as B-vitamins, phytoestrogens, fiber, etc. may all be involved in offering protection against several cancers.

4. WHOLE GRAINS CAN HELP ALLEVIATE DIFFICULT MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS: For most women, one of the central problems associated with menopause is the fluctuation in estrogen levels that occurs during this stage of life, and the simultaneous bone-loss that often occurs. Research suggests that fortification of the diet during this time with high quality calcium and magnesium rich foods can help blunt bone-loss, relieve symptoms such as head-aches, and also regulate blood pressure levels. The bran layer of many whole grains contains essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, selenium, and manganese — all of which play crucial roles in maintaining metabolic and hormonal health. Women going through menopause should therefore pay especially close attention to the regular consumption of whole grains.

PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICE

The points made above ought to motivate us all to make a more concerted effort to include a variety of whole grains in our meals. But, old habits often die hard, and most Americans are hard-wired to eating refined foods. Here are 5 simple suggestions that will help you make a jump-start on improving your whole grain consumption:

1. THINK BREAKFAST: Always start the day with a whole-grain based breakfast. You can have a bowl of cold whole-grain cereal or a hot cereal made with a mixture of whole grains. Numerous varieties are now available in whole-foods stores. Look for oats that have been steel-cut (rather than instant or quick oats) and/or other cereal mixes that contain whole wheat, barley, oats, or whole rye meal.

2. SNACK ON WHOLE GRAIN-BASED FOODS: A small lunch or snack can easily consist of a whole-wheat pita pocket with roasted red pepper (or other) hummus, avocado slices, and fresh lettuce/watercress/other greens. Also, look for 100 percent whole grain crackers and try them with a little organic goat cheese or freshly made hummus — Delicious and Nutritious!

3. TRY HIGH QUALITY, WHOLE GRAIN PASTA: Do you think that whole grain pasta tastes too heavy? Here are a couple of ideas — Try whole-wheat thin spaghetti or angel-hair pasta rather than “regular” spaghetti, and occasionally, try some of the imported Italian brands. The thinner versions of the pasta lighten the taste of the whole wheat, and for now, there appears to be a broader selection of these foods in the imported brands.

4. LOOK FOR 100 percent WHOLE GRAIN BREADS: With more customers asking for whole foods, American grocery stores are adding newer varieties of whole grain breads regularly. However, it can take a while to decipher the labels on breads. Whenever possible, buy breads that contain 100 percent stone-ground whole wheat or other grain flours (as the first ingredient), and look for varieties that are NOT loaded with enriched flour.

5. STRETCH AND EXPLORE UNFAMILIAR GRAINS: There is a whole world of fabulous whole grains out there. Sadly, most individuals in the West are not familiar with them. Growing up in India, I was exceptionally fortunate to learn how to use what (at that time) seemed like a nearly infinite variety of grains that were used in unimaginably delicious ways. Consequently, one of my passions is to share that wealth of knowledge with my Western friends and audiences. As both a passionate chef as well as a research-scientist, I see this knowledge as being of a kind that simply must be shared.

I’ll conclude this post with a question that I have been asked more often than I can remember: “I want to eat whole grains, but, what exists past whole wheat flour?” To begin with, a treasure of grains such as whole barley, millet, rye, an unending variety of lentil flours, and combinations of lentil and whole grain flours used for making uncommonly delicious flat breads. All of these foods provide an unparalleled bounty of taste and health. I am aware that many of these foods may be alien to most in the West, but this is a treasure worth learning about and tapping into. In both my upcoming book, as well as in future posts, I will write frequently on the subject of whole foods. So, stay tuned for fabulous, one-of-a-kind mouth-watering whole foods recipes from around the globe, as well as other ideas on how to use whole grains and whole foods for creating a lifetime of vibrant health.

Until then, Bon Appetit!

Joint Pain, Arthritis, Sinusitis, Digestion

From: Virginia L. Stone

To: Evelyn Gibson

Sent: Friday, April 25, 2008 3:14 PM

My name is Virginia Stone. I am 72. I was very physically active over the years, (tap and ballet dancing, bicycling, bowling, playing tennis, golf, and ultimately, longs distance running). Since I have very flexible joints, my knees took a lot of abuse. Several years ago I had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee and was advised to have the same done to the left. Through this period of time I used a walker, cane, and at times, a wheel chair.

A year ago March, I purchased the three Musketeers (Chi Machine, HotHouse, and ERE). With diligent use, and by increasing the minutes carefully, I noticed that I no longer had to take pain medication or rub deep penetrating pain relief into my left knee area. I no longer took a cane with me wherever I went. I credit the strengthening of the connective tissue around my knee to the diligent use of the therapy machines, especially the aerobic exerciser (Chi Machine). I had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and was given a handicap card, which I don’t use because I don’t have joint pain anymore.

For as long as I can remember I have had chronic sinusitis, having to take 21 day treatment of antibiotics, just to have the condition repeatedly return. By using the Far Infrared Dome over my head and the FIR pad under me as I took my treatment on the SOQI bed, the bacteria that lay in the sinus cavities were killed. I had a flu-ish bout last month, without any discolored discharge from my sinuses. Now, that makes such a difference in my life. Every time I had gone on a vacation, I would get a sinus attack either while I was there or when I returned home. I am free from that now, while we continue to travel extensively. Thanks to the deep penetrating heat and healing rays of the FIR dome, along with the Chi and ERE which keep my body free of toxins.

My husband has had achy hands and other joints because of arthritis. He no longer has pain.

That’s my story. There is much more, but not enough time to tell about the amazing addition of the E-Power in our lives, especially in keeping my digestive tract healthy.

SOQI & ERE: Restless legs, weight, pain, healing

My name is Margaret Gano. My husband Bob and I were introduced to the SOQI and Chi machine over 2 years ago through friends who let us use their SOQI Bed to see if it would help us. I was traveling extensively as an auditor for my work and did not have time to go over to their house to use the machine. Because we began to see the benefits, we purchased one for ourselves. This was the best step we had ever taken regarding our health.

My husband, Bob, gets on the machine every morning before he goes to work. He immediately noticed increased circulation and clarity. Bob has only visited the Chiropractor twice in over three years. Before purchase of the machine, he visited the Chiropractor almost every week. I also noticed that my body was better aligned and I began to feel noticeably better. After using it, I have not been to the Chiropractor since.

When I first started using this machine for 30 minutes each day, I lost over 12 pounds.

I was in a life-threatening car accident approximately 18 months ago. I sustained a broken hip, 5 broken ribs with a total of 17 broken bones.

I used the HotHouse during this time. The pain subsided and the healing process was increased, but I could not even walk to speed up the healing time. After 4 months of awaiting healing of the hip joint, I started back on the Chi machine. My caregiver at that time stated that I progressed immensely during the first week of the SOQI use.

I continue to use it every day and would not want to be without it even for one day. I know that I would not be where I am today without the Chi Machine and the HotHouses.

Although, I am still using a cane to walk, I know that it would be much worse without the machines.

We also use the ERE Machine which helps our restless legs. Bob who is diabetic receives great results regarding the circulation in his legs. The swelling goes down as soon as he uses the ERE Machine.

We highly recommend these machines for great health and well being.

ERE & E-Power: candida, digestion, arrhythmia

My personal experience with the Electro Reflex Energizer is I had Candida for 30 years, did everything to rid my body of this. In 1 month it was much better, less cravings, more energy. After 6 months of using the ERE, no more cravings, went from Size 8 to Size 6, and much more stamina.

The E-Power on my first treatment eliminated digestive problems and arrhythmia, along with more energy, more stamina. I’m able to work 12-hour days easily. –Cheryl Polley, Riverside, CA

Beginning to Understand Energy Medicine

At our Creation Science Association meeting last year a PhD in Physics was our speaker.  He explained his impression of the first day of Creation. God said, “Let there be light.” In God’s wisdom, the energy field needed to exist before all that was to follow. Moses used the word “light” to record this creation, as there was no other word in the language for the whole realm of electricity, energy, quantum physics, photons, microwaves, infrared, etc. While only a few years ago we did not even have cell phones, there is now an exploding discovery of technologies using the tremendous energy field, with the understanding that our very survival, health and well being are dependent on this realm.

E-Power was invented by Yiteng Xianzhi of Japan (the same inventor of the electrocardiograph and the electroencephalogram). Our line of FDA-registered medical devices is being well received by the medical community.

E-Power May Be A Fast, Easy Way to Build Muscles, Bones and Collagen

Someone of any age or condition can increase muscle strength and build strong healthy bones with vibration therapy.

This special technology was first studied on military personnel and Olympic athletes in Russia. They used a special mechanical vibrating plate adjusted to exactly the right frequency. When people stood on it, it caused muscles to contract anywhere from 30 to 50 times a second.

Now in contrast, the frequency of the E-Power device creates rapid vibrations that are not even felt!

As we age, the essential structure of the skin’s layers breaks down, causing skin to lose its elasticity. As the levels of proteins in the skin decline, lines and wrinkles become visible. However, science has proved that it is possible to reverse some of this damage and to repair the mesh-like structure of the skin and promote cell rejuvenation.

With the E-Power device, your “bone builders”, osteoblasts, are stimulated by gentle undetectable movement of the tendons that link your muscles to your bones. Unnoticeably, the muscles contract and relax with each vibration. The benefits are greater strength and stability for your muscles, skin and bones.

SOQI Bed - Hips, Knees, Back, Sleep

March 20, 2008 I received my SOQI Bed, Electro Reflex Energizer, and the E-Power with a FIR pad. A friend and I were able to get it assembled quickly. The reasons for getting this equipment was because my husband and I had aches in our hips, knees and back and altogether did not feel fully alive. When the SOQI bed was put together along with the Chi Machine, I started my experiment to prove to see if it really worked.

I had my 12 year old son use it first because his knee had been bothering him for some time. When he finished his session of 15 minutes of using the Chi Machine and the Hothouses, I asked him how he felt and he said, “Wow, this really works, I can bend my knee with my weight on it”. I was very pleasantly surprised and excited.

I was next to get onto the bed and start my first session with the Chi Machine and the HotHouses. I timed the Chi Machine for 15 minutes and 30 on the HotHouses. When I finished my session, my aches in my back and hips were somewhat relieved. That night I had the best sleep I had had for sometime. I woke up feeling refreshed.

The next day I could hardly wait to use the SOQI bed again. This time I was able to utilize it for three sessions throughout the day and timed them just as I had the day before. At the end of the day, when I had completed my third session, I could hardly believe what I felt as I got up. My aches on my back and hips were gone. I was able to sit and get up easily without having to get up and straighten out slowly.

I teach Martial Arts. I had noticed before that when I would do a side kick my hips felt restricted and when I walked they felt like one was higher than the other. I no longer felt that and instead had complete movement.

I was so excited about my results that I called Evelyn to share.

I am very excited and have shared my SOQI bed with friends who have also greatly benefited from it.

E-Power: No drooping eyelids, nerve pain, surgery recovery

From: Linda Metcalf Sent: Friday, April 25, 2008 6:35 PM

My name is Linda Metcalfe. I used the E-Power for two months as follows:

Each AM and PM - 1/2 hour on Low Setting and 1/2 hour on Medium. The Results:

I look like I had a face lift. My eyelids are not drooping. My face is tightening up. My skin has a glow and smoothness about it. People I do not see on a regular basis are guessing my age to be way younger than I really am. Yeah!

I’ll take that response any time I can get it!

My nerve pain issues in my leg have decreased considerably. That is something I did not know would happen. This is incredible, as I have been walking on crutches for the last 4 years due to ongoing pain in my leg muscles from nerve damage. I look forward to being off the crutches as soon as my leg muscles, ligaments and tendons get strong again after from my major surgery, March 28, 2008 (a re-do of a loose total knee replacement and removal of an 8″ plate and 16 three inch screws in my right femur)

The last week before this surgery I found out I could use the E-Power all night - so I used it an average of 6 hours a night on the low setting.

I have had two other surgeries in the last 2 years with general anesthesia. The outcome was completely different. This time, seven hours after my 3 hour surgery ended, I woke up at 3 a.m. totally awake, stood on my right leg for 2 minutes and was amazed at how good I felt! No anesthesia aftermath!  At 7am I ate all the breakfast they brought me, with no nausea. Everyone that saw me said I looked wonderful, and I felt wonderful! The E-Power has made the recovery of this surgery an amazing experience! I am so thankful for the E-Power belt!

I can hardly wait to see what the future brings as I continue to use this

life-changing device called the “E-Power ”!
